Aletheia Henry

Chief Strategy Officer

ACLU

Bio

As a founding partner with HH Teams Aletheia spent the last several years serving as a lead strategist and coach for teams locally and abroad. Her work has focused on developing organizational structure, impact measures, strategy, and training programs for several progressive clients, including the ACLU, the Democracy Defense Coalition, the Human Rights Campaign, NextGen Climate, Planned Parenthood, Instacart, Airbnb, and the Hillary Clinton Campaign.

For the last several months, Aletheia has been working to design and implement the strategy for Greater Than Hate, a diverse, intersectional coalition formed by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Everytown for Gun Safety, the National Education Association (NEA), the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC), Equality Federation, Asians Fighting Injustice, and the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) to call out and push back against hateful legislation, policies, and rhetoric that cause direct harm to LGBTQ+ and transgender people, people of color, women, children, and teachers.

In 2022, she harnessed the power of paid media, enraged supporters, and economic and cultural engagement to bring the attention of the nation to the fight for abortion access as the Senior Campaign Strategist for Planned Parenthood’s Abortion Access Advocacy Campaign. Driving millions of supporters to protect, expand, and fortify access in the face of this unprecedented rollback of reproductive rights caused by the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs.

Aletheia served as a Senior Advisor to the Democracy Defense Coalition in 2020, a coalition of 700+ groups who came together on strategy, messaging, and organizing to protect the results of the election and ensure every vote was counted. She led the Investment in state-based leadership, with an emphasis on Black and brown leaders, to build local tables capable of mobilizing millions of people – ultimately ensuring a democratic transfer of power.

As the founding Director of Education for the Obama Foundation, she set the strategic vision for cultivating a culture of active citizenship by teaching people how to lead change in their communities. She built a dynamic and diverse team of community builders, curriculum developers, and experts in program evaluation to deliver digital and in-person learning experiences that give young people the tools, connections, and sense of agency they need to make a difference.

Over the past 15 years, Aletheia has held key leadership positions at the DNC, Planned Parenthood, and on both Obama Campaigns. Prior to starting HH Teams, she was the National Director of Campaigns for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She scaled Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s federal independent expenditure program to complete 1.5 million door knocks, over a million phone calls, and recruit nearly a million new supporters for Planned Parenthood. Importantly, Aletheia found a way to increase staff output to its highest level ever while securing health insurance for temporary campaign staffers for the first time.

Aletheia was recruited to the campaign trail by President Obama’s 2008 campaign in Iowa. Aletheia traveled to eight states in the 2008 primary and finished out the Presidential Election in Michigan. In all, Aletheia spent six years working for President Obama and the Democratic Party culminating in serving as General Election Director for the 2012 battleground state of Pennsylvania where she built an organization that resulted in 850 volunteer Neighborhood Teams, 180,000 newly registered voters, and 13 million voter contact attempts. The Pennsylvania Obama team had the highest voter contact per staffer of any state in the country and the highest online growth of any state.

Aletheia ensures that the way we win reflects the values we are fighting for. She is an Ohio native and a serious Buckeye fan. She married Jennifer Higgins in 2016 and they welcomed their son Kepler to the family in December of 2018.
