Arizona Study Shows Drug Treatment Cuts Crime (04/21/1999)
PHOENIX, AZ -- Arizona's voter-approved program of sentencing nonviolent, first- and second-time drug offenders to treatment rather than prison reduces crime and saves tax money, according to a state Supreme Court study.

ACLU Says Author's Life Endangered by Ban on Medical Marijuana (02/18/1999)
The author, Peter McWilliams, has worsened dramatically since the government prohibited his use of the drug. "This is precisely the reason that the people of California -- like those in 5 other western states -- enacted a law legalizing the medical use of marijuana," said ACLU attorney Taylor Flynn.
