JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:
HELP DESK SUPPORT
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Entry-level position. Provide support to staff on supported software applications.
Troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems: determine source, and
take appropriate action. Assist Director of MIS with network administration
tasks on a Microsoft Windows-based network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer staff questions in person and via phone on all company supported
software
- Troubleshoot and repair computer problems
- Perform preventative maintenance on servers and user workstations
- Adhere to Department Procedures and assist in improving and revising them
- General Network Administration duties, including creating new user profiles,
reviewing server logs and working with Director to resolve issues, etc.
- Perform hardware and software installations
- Document & update installation, configuration, deployment & maintenance
procedures
- Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members and interns
- Provide computer orientation to new company staff and interns
- Install PDA/Phone devices for end users
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus either a minimum one year of College-level
computer course-work or 2-3 years of relevant computer work experience
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including desktops, notebooks, servers
and PDAs
- Expertise with Windows 2000 and XP Professional, Microsoft Office, WordPerfect
Office, Internet technologies (including browsers, FTP, and wireless) –
database and/or programming, and experience with Blackbaud or Amicus Attorney
database software systems are definite pluses
- Experience with Palm software and Treo PDA phones preferred
- Experience administering Active Directory Domains and Microsoft Exchange
preferred but not required
- Mac/OSX experience a plus
- Ability to learn and support new applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills: communicate positively, diplomatically and
appropriately
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Willingness for occasional travel to satellite office in Orange, California
