POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Louisiana,
a private non-profit organization, seeks a Development Coordinator
to assist in the development and coordination of a comprehensive fundraising
plan that raises funds for the annual budget of the organization and strengthens
the links between the ACLU and its supporters. The mission of the ACLU of Louisiana
is to protect and advance the civil liberties guaranteed in the Bill of Rights
of the United States Constitution and the Louisiana constitutions.
Working closely with the Executive Director and collaborating with
the National Office of the ACLU, the Development Coordinator will lead the expansion
of the organization's development activities including the following key responsibilities:
- Develop a strategic development plan; expand the prospective donor list
and implement strategies to cultivate prospective donors; develop and coordinate
an annual plan that will include specific fundraising goals and targets for
proposals, appeals and campaigns with the Executive Director.
- Expand the grants program, including strategic prospect research, scheduling,
writing, grant preparation and reporting.
- Maintain confidential fundraising information on databases and hold primary
responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the database.
- Handle the production and publication of development materials, including
an annual campaign brochure and an annual organizational report and others
as needed.
- Together with other staff, coordinate and implement member and donor events,
including receptions and parties, video screenings and conferences throughout
the year.
Qualification:
- B.A. or equivalent and at least three years of relevant work experience
in the Development field. Experience with community-based groups in Louisiana
is valuable.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills: a strong, consistent
attention to detail, an organized work style, and the ability to follow through
on work assignments with a minimum of direct supervision.
- A demonstrated ability to write clearly and precisely. Strength in proofreading
and an ardent attention to detail. Strong skills in use of computers for database
management and word processing.
- A commitment to the confidentiality of donor records.
- The ability to work on several projects at various stages of completion.
Good problem solving skills. A confident, business-like and professional presentation.
Flexibility, determination and good humor.
- Ability to work occasional irregular hours.
- Interest and enthusiasm for civil liberties and the work of the ACLU.
Compensation & Terms of Employment:
- Salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
