The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national public interest organization devoted to the defense of the Bill of Rights. The Affiliate Support Department, whose purpose is to work with and strengthen the 50 affiliates and 3 national chapters throughout the country, is seeking a Affiliate Support  Assistant.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Maintain departmental listservs and mailing lists.
  • Maintain departmental databases.
  • Work with department staff to update ASD manuals.
  • Coordinate with ASD staff on several yearly affiliate surveys.
  • Collaborate with department support staff on day to day assignments.
  • Provide technical information on special projects and events.
  • Develop and prepare written correspondence and respond to routine affiliate correspondence.
  • Create and develop visual presentations (charts, graphs).
  • Work independently and within a team on special projects.
  • Act as a backup to department secretary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years related administrative experience.
  • Ability to work in team setting and work with other support staff.
  • Superior computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and FileMaker Pro.
  • Computer database management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills and phone manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan work activities and manage time efficiently.

COMPENSATION:
The ACLU offers a generous and comprehensive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience and within parameters of the ACLU compensation scale.
