PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
NYCLU NASSAU COUNTY CHAPTER
The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) is the New York State affiliate
of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The NYCLU is one of the nation's
foremost defenders of civil liberties and civil rights. Founded in 1951 as the
New York affiliate of the ACLU, we are a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization
with six chapters and 40,000 members across the state.
Our mission is to defend and promote the fundamental principles and values
embodied in the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution. As the NYCLU fights
for civil liberties and civil rights for all, it does so through a multi-layered
program of litigation, advocacy, public education, and community organizing.
The NYCLU is seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant for our Nassau County
Chapter office.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chapter Director in various aspects of the operation of the Nassau
County office;
- Provide support for client intake that requires case research, and generating
and receiving correspondences;
- Assist in development and communications projects;
- Oversee volunteers; and
- Record maintenance and data entry.
Candidates for the position must possess the following qualifications:
- Strong verbal communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access;
- Ability to research information; and
- A strong commitment to civil liberties and familiarity with constitutional
law.
The position is 20 hours/week.
