The American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California (ACLU-NC) seeks applicants
for seeks a temporary, part-time Religion and Reproductive Freedom Outreach
Coordinator to work under the supervision of the Reproductive Rights
Project. This is a contract position, classified as temporary: for one year.
The position is expected to begin around July 15, 2008.
Job Description:
The Outreach Coordinator will:
- Identify a diverse array of religious leaders, theologians, religious educators
and religious communities supportive of reproductive freedom and/or civil
liberties generally.
- Promote reproductive freedom and civil liberties by outreach to religious
leaders and religious communities.
- Convene meetings of faith leaders to discuss religion and reproductive freedom.
- Create a broad network of faith leaders committed to reproductive freedom.
- Prepare opinion editorials, short articles, and other materials on religion
and reproductive freedom.
- Develop and maintain a database of religious leaders and educators committed
to reproductive freedom and civil liberties.
- Work with coalition partners to accomplish these goals.
- Conduct other tasks as assigned by ACLU-NC’s Reproductive Rights Project
attorney.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of complexities of reproductive freedom issues
in diverse communities
- Interest in religion and familiarity with the religious communities of northern
California
- Experience with community outreach.
- Collaborative facilitation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to take initiative and think strategically.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Commitment to civil liberties.
Compensation:
This is a contract position. Contract rate will be based on experience.
