Lorie Chaiten is a Senior Staff attorney at the national ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, where she focusses on litigating challenges to unlawful abortion bans and other restrictions, providing legal compliance advice to abortion providers and others who support them and their patients, and advancing legal strategies to help abortion providers and supporters limit their risk as they assist patients increasingly forced to travel from their home states to access abortion care. Ms. Chaiten has focused on reproductive rights litigation and advocacy throughout her 38-year legal career, litigating her first abortion case in 1985. She has taught courses in Reproductive Health and Justice at the University of Chicago Law School and the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. Ms. Chaiten is the Chair of the Board of the National Abortion Federation and the National Abortion Hotline and is a founding Board Member of the Midwest Access Project.
