ACLU Letter Calling on IACHR to Immediately Intervene to Halt Execution of Russell Bucklew

On March 6, 2018, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the execution of Russell Bucklew despite his challenge in the district court to the cruel and unusual punishment. His execution date was scheduled for March 20, 2018. Subsequently, the ACLU updated its petition to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights – which is currently pending – to request that the Commission intervene immediately and that it ask the State of Missouri to halt Mr. Bucklew's execution until the Commission has ruled on the merits of his petition.
