The American Civil Liberties Union expressed concerns in a letter to the Department of Homeland Security about the 287(g) program and its imminent expansion to as many as 24 additional jurisdictions across the country. The program agreements, which deputize state and local police to carry out federal immigration enforcement, are re-emerging under the Trump Administration after several years of decline.
