On July 14th, the ACLU, ACLU Indigenous Justice Working Group, South Dakota Education Equity Coalition, 4Rosebud, and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Education Department submitted a shadow report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination that focuses on education inequity, racism, and discrimination encountered by Indigenous students within public schools. Addressing the legacy of the U.S. boarding school policy that was designed to erase the Indigenous way of life and language, this submission provides recommendations that would support eliminating discriminatory policies at the federal level.
