This letter was filed on behalf of the ACLU, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, NAACP, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, and the US Human Rights Network. It expresses concern over U.S. failure to submit its periodic report to the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) which was due November 20, 2017. The letter urged the Trump administration to expedite the submission of the U.S. periodic report to the UN Committee and avoid an unprecedented situation where the Committee will have to move forward with the formal review without an official U.S. government report.
