Election Integrity Commission - State Responses
As a part of Donald Trump’s Election Integrity Commission, Kris Kobach sent letters across the country, asking state representatives for details on every registered voter in the country. This is an unprecedented government request for information on American voters, including names, addresses, birthdates, political affiliation, last four digits of Social Security numbers, and voting history.
Given Kobach’s longstanding record of suppressing the vote in Kansas, we can’t let him take his disenfranchisement plans national. Fortunately, many states, led by both Republicans and Democrats, saw through Kobach's request and refused to comply at all or will only provide information which is publicly available under state law. Numerous states raised concerns about the commission's intentions, citing the lack of evidence of voter fraud to justify this taxpayer-funded fishing expedition.
The commission's first in-person will be July 19th in Washington, D.C.
