This July 11, 2017 letter was sent by the ACLU to the House Appropriations Committee opposing Section 116 in the FY 2018 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. Section 116 is designed – in violation of the Constitution – to give religious organizations special tax benefits and privileges that are unavailable to other, non-religious 501(c)(3) organizations.
