Immigration Priorities for COVID-19 Relief Package (Senate)

In this letter, the ACLU urges senators to include testing, treatment, and much-needed COVID-19 relief in order to protect the health and future of the country. The ACLU calls for the inclusion of these four provisions in the next federal COVID-19 relief package: (1) testing and treatment for everyone who needs it under emergency Medicaid; (2) cash assistance for anyone who files taxes; (3) automatic work authorization extensions for those with DACA, TPS, and nonimmigrant visas; (4) the release of people in immigration detention and the suspension of enforcement actions. It is critical that the above recommendations are included in legislation in order to make our communities and our country healthier.
