Unintended Pregnancy

Yesterday the Washington Post ran an article about unintended pregnancy in the U.S. Here are some of the highlights:

-- According to a recent report by the Guttmacher Institute, 33 states have made it more difficult or more expensive for poor women and teenagers to obtain contraceptives and related medical services.

-- Half of the 6 million pregnancies in the United States each year are unintended

-- The United States continues to lag far behind most industrialized nations in reducing abortion and teenage pregnancy.

And yet the government still insists on funding sex education programs that censor information about contraception. Is there any wonder why rates of unintended pregnancy are so high in the U.S.?
