Investigation into a solider accused of robbery and malingering when as a member of a patrol team, he stole 180,000 Iraqi Dinar from two homes he was searching and then shot himself in the foot after being informed that he would be recommended for disciplinary action for stealing money. Soldier received an Other Than Honorable Discharge from the Miltary.

Investigation into charges of 7 soldiers accused hitting an Iraqi detainee in the head several times, fracturing his jaw, shooting at vehicles and dogs in a traffic, and the taking of captured weapons in Baghdad, Iraq. Investigation resulted in 5 guilty charges, and 2 dismissals of charges: failure to obey general order, failure to obey direct order, failure to turn over captured property, and failure to turn in seized property by order of the commander. Punishment of a reduction in rank and pay deductions.

Investigation of assault by soldier who threatened to kill Iraqi civilians in custody of US forces in an army compound in Baghdad, Iraq. Soldier admitted to having no formal training as an interrogator and was not aware of a formal army policy on interrogation techniques. Investigation terminated. If an action commander or prosecutor indicates either to take no action against the subject or take action amounting to less than a court proceeding and no further investigative assistance of CID is required by the commander or prosecutor.

Investigation into soldier who had given his wife several compact disks containing images depicting the possible abuse of detainees. Army found the CD revealed pictures of detainees from Afghanistan, but none of the detainees are being abused or mistreated. Investigation terminated in that the Special Agent in Charge of this office has determined that the furtherance of this investigation would be of little or no value and lead remaining to be developed are not significant.

Investigation into allegations of detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib in Sept. 2003 by members of the 519th Military Intelligence Batallion. SPC at Abu Ghraib provided sworn statement that he overheard a MP dog handler stating that a game was being played to see which dog handler could get the most detainees to urinate on themselves. Investigation established the offense of detainee abuse did not occur as alleged by members of the 229th MP company.

Investigation of abuse of detainees at Camp Muleskinner, Baghdad, Iraq. (maltreatment of prisoners, assault, false swearing, accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice, and dereliction of duty). Soldiers later made an audiotape summarizing events involving the beatings of detainees. All 5 soliders accused of abuse were found guilty of maltreatment of prisoners, assault, accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice and dereliction of duty. Punishment: reduction in rank and reprimand.

Investigation into an incident of two soldiers assaulting an Iraqi civilian who had been taken into custody of the US Army – near Iraq Museum of Military History, Baghdad, Iraq. Investigation established probable cause to believe that the two soldiers committed the offense of assault and dereliction of duty when they assaulted an Iraqi citizen. Acts included forcing detainee to hold a pistol so soldier could have excuse for shooting detainee. Only one of the soldiers was found guilty and given a reduction in rank.

Investigation into the death of Yasiree Ahmes Al-Haddii (Enemy Prisoner of War) at Camp Bucca, Um Qasr, Iraq. Yasiree committed the offenses of attempted murder, rioting, and aggravated assault. Two U.S. soldiers were ordered to fire on Mr. Yasiree. Mr. Yasiree died as a result of being shot by the soldiers. Investigation revealed that both soldiers did not commit any offense as they were ordered to fire on Mr. Yasiree and were within the Rules of Engagement.

Investigation into the death of detainee Obeed Hethere Radad at Camp Iron Horse, Tikrit, Iraq. Specialist from the 4th Fwd. Support. Bn., 4ID, shot and killed Radad, without first issuing warnings as required under the Rules of Engagement. CID did not receive a report of the incident until 9/16/03. Due to the delay, no autopsy; crime scene significantly altered; and evidence not collected. CID determined that probable cause existed for a murder charge. However, the day after the incident, Army held an Art. 32 hearing charging the Specialist with Voluntary Manslaughter (1057). Specialist reduced in rank and discharged from the service, before the investigation had even begun.
